Per the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy, functional nutrition is an art and science that utilizes an integrative and functional approach to nutrition assessment. Registered dietitians trained in functional nutrition seek to identify the root cause(s) that create dysfunction and/or disease. We apply critical thinking to understand system imbalances and pattern recognition. Our goal is to work together with you to design a personalized nutrition care plan to optimize health and well-being and promote healing. We create an Integrative and functional nutrition care plan that includes meal plans based on whole foods and nutrition therapeutic approaches to promote healing through food intake, clinical knowledge about conventional and functional testing and biomarkers, education about lifestyle practices for full health potential of body, mind, and spirit and responsible, evidence-based supplement recommendations. I support working in collaboration with your primary care providers and allied health care team such as pharmacists, mental health providers, and more in order to support your health and provide you access to proven healing modalities.

Functional nutrition testing is a deeper kind of health check. Instead of just asking “Are you sick?”, it asks: How is your body actually functioning?
These tests look at how your systems are working behind the scenes—like digestion, detox, hormones, nutrient absorption, and gut health. They help uncover root causes of symptoms that regular bloodwork might miss. Functional nutrition testing is not covered by health insurance.

• Follow-Up Visits – Usually every 2 to 4 weeks, especially if you're starting a new protocol or reviewing lab results
